HPL - Exterior Grade Compact Laminate
Constituted with special chemicals, our exterior HPL panels are manufactured using GLE technology that makes them resistant to fading, fire, extreme weather conditions, microbial threats and moisture. Exterior wall claddings from Greenlam come with special fasteners made from non-corrosive materials such as stainless steel and aluminium, which offer better colour fastening properties.

What is HPL
HPL is the abbreviation for High Pressure Laminate. HPL is made up of several layers that are compressed (laminated) under very high pressure. This creates a very dense, hard and form-retaining sheet (HPL).
An Exterior HPL sheet consists of a paper core and two top layers. The core of the sheet consists of several layers of kraft papers treated with special chemicals and Halogen-Free FR additives in a Thermosetting Phenolic Resin. During production, these layers are compressed under high pressure and at a high temperature. The resin that is used is a so-called thermoset. This means that the resin becomes hard under the influence of heat. By compressing, the layers are compacted and create a very dense and hard sheet. The top layers are so hard and dense that sunlight and moisture cannot penetrate into the sheet. In the first instance, HPL sheets were therefore developed as cladding material for outdoor use in residential and non-residential buildings, for example, maintenance-free exterior panels.

The FSC certification is considered the “gold standard” designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious and economically viable. If a product, like a piece of tropical hardwood furniture, is labelled as ‘FSC Certified’, it means that the wood used in the piece of manufacturer that made it met the requirements of the Forest Stewardship Council. In our case, we can provide FSC grade laminate for any project which wants to earn LEED points for green building certifications.

BS EN 438-2 Compliance
