Deck board — 220 x 13.9 x 1.8 cm
Beam — 300 x 13.9 x 3.9 cm

Boards are produced by heat-pressing bamboo fibre into a non-cellular material, which is what gives the surface its density and its resistance to moisture, abrasion and insects.

How bamboo compares to hardwood

Thermally treated outdoor bamboo measures a density of 1.2 and a hardness of 70.4, against 0.7 and 55.8 for teak, 0.9 and 61.7 for merbau, and 0.35 and 44.1 for red cedar. Its water-absorption expansion rate is 0.9.

On performance it rates excellent for abrasion-resistant corrosion, environmental performance and anti-termite properties, and stable for dimensional stability — where man-made anticorrosive wood and wood-plastic composite are both prone to deforming under high temperature.

Maintenance

One treatment after the first two years, then once a year. No sanding cycles, no insect treatment, and no risk of termite damage. The surface ages gracefully and keeps its anti-slip texture throughout.
